There used to be one downtown that was pretty good, gg's noodles bar, but it closed over a year ago. I don't think there is anymore.

Great food
I agree with everyone else here that the food is just okay, but the pricing is similar to other ramen places with better quality.I'm not sure if it's the time of year (Dec 27) or my race that made the staff be anything but friendly with me but I didn't enjoy my experience here.I walked in, the servers just say "Sit" to me while staring blankly at me. After about 5 minutes she came to me to take my order, but had nothing to write the order down on. And of course got it wrong, I told her, and she got it wrong again. At that point, I had no energy to recorrect her.I dont reccomend coming for 2 possible reasons, if you're black/ if its during the holiday season. I did not experience friendly staff.
Excellent food, fast service, and friendly staff. Highly recommended for some good ramen!
Credit card fee ?! Sounds great Food is 4 stars the owner choose the correct kind of noodle and make the chashu and egg right Service Maybe 1/2star “First time here is there any good?†All of them are good are you ready ?! What is the difference between this three All of them are good are you ready ?! After finished Are you ready ?! Got my check Txt my friend back (Used less than 3 mins) Are you ready ?! Cash in the check book Thank you have a nice day
This place got such rave reviews, I was quite excited to finally give it a try. This made my experience all the more disapponting. The flavor of the miso ramen I ordered was pretty underwhelming, even bland. In addition, It wasn't particularly busy when my friends and I came in but visits from the waitress were sporadic and curt. The price of a meal here is fairly in line with other ramen restaurants in the city. That being said, after my visit today I'd prefer to go to any of those places rather than here, again.
Food was excellent, prices just right.
A little pricy for a bowl of noodles, but the flavor is so good! I got the Grilled Noodle House Ranch Beef in Coconut Lime Curry broth. The beef is so tender - not chewy at all. The broth was full of flavor! It was rich, but not too thick or overpowering. The Noodle House was cooked just right and the thick noodles went well with the curry broth.
My son spent a month in Tokyo and said this was almost as good and very authentic.
Absolutely amazing! Quick service and kind staff.
The katsu chicken curry was amazing! Service was fantastic and quick for 4 people on lunch break. I will be going back again :)
I have never been to a Ramen restaurant, so I really wasn't sure what I was getting, but I like to experience new things. The set up is a little small. I can imagine at busy times there isn't much place to sit but we found a table easy. The service was very attentive. I tried a Beef Ramen and the Fried Oysters (there are names for these things but they are escaping me right now). My wife got the Kim Chee Ramen. My food was freaking good. The broth of the ramen was flavorful and rich. The noodles were good. Plenty of beef in it that was cooked perfectly, along with egg, onion and something called fishcake that I was scared of but ended up being good. The oysters were great too. Will definitely be back
So good. Great service! I cant wait to try some thing else. Miso raman seaweed salad and takoyaki 🤤
Ramen is great and comes out quick, very well priced though it is lacking in seatingm
Good noodle place. I had curry chicken noodles. Delicious.
Seaweed Salad and Miso Ramen. It was my first time at a ramen restaurant. It was an enjoyable experience. I just wasn’t a big fan of the broth. It tasted insipid. If you’re up for trying adventurous dishes, I recommend going! Lots of interesting food textures.
In Oakland area, I believe this is the most authentic Japanese-style ramen restaurant. Interior is chic and stylish. All staffs wear black T shirts, and bandannas on their head, which is typical of Japanese domestic ramen restaurants. You can chose various ramens, and "yakisoba" (Japanese style chow mein). Noodle seems to be a bit softer, and soup to be thinner than Japanese authentic ones, but all dishes live up to the name of "Japanese style ramen".
Staff is incredibly friendly and food is just wonderfully tasty! This is a perfect spot to grab lunch if you are visiting the museums in the area! We walked over from the Carnegie Art Museum and the walk was great - especially since the weather has been a bit warmer lately! We both had the Mixed Vegetable Ramen and had a blast figuring out the best way to each the long noodles. They don't over season their food so you can use the spices they have on the table to create your own blend of flavor!
Got the vegetarian ramen. The broth didn't have enough flavor. The eggs were cold but tasty..
Very tasty well made reasonably priced place. Recommended.
Great value. Bowls were filled with ingredients and you don't have to pay for all these added extras. Really tasty broth. Place is a bit small so it can be hard to get a table but it's worth a visit
Great Food!! Amazing customer Service!
This is the most delicious food that I ate. Pleasant atmosphere. Page 5 of 5!
Service is wonderful everything on the menu is excellent.
Loved their food! Got the rice shrimp bowl and intentionally made the leftovers last a couple days because I enjoyed it so much. Attentive staff, never needed to ask for a water refill. Food came out quickly with big portions. Isn't too expensive. Will definitely go back.
Really good Ramen and fried rice
Love this place! Nuff said..
Fantastic food and GREAT SERVICE! Though the place is very small and tight. They still took care of our party of 10! Food was fresh and so very YUMMY!
It was wonderful! Good food and nice people!
Fast service and yummy food. Price wasn't too bad either.
One of the best places on campus to get a nice and hearty bowl of ramen for a reasonable price.
I definitely recommend zens for anyone craving great but decently priced ramen. The staff are friendly & it's a nice location.
Good ramen. Quick service. Seating is a bit tiny but it’s sufficient.
Tried this place on a whim and it was EXCELLENT! The Pork Bone broth in my Tan Tan Ramen was incredibly flavorful and just what I needed on a cool night. Besides being super tasty, the staff was great and it was really clean and well lit. I'll definitely be going back!
Very quick service! My glass of water was never past half empty. The ramen though................ DELICIOUS! The noodles were full of flavor and they gave 2 eggs and 2 fishcakes when most places give one of each. The price was fair. Go on an empty stomach!
The soup was amazing and the service was impeccable. They were very helpful and always made sure our water was full. The music was fun and upbeat and the establishment was clean. Very happy with our visit.
Amazing ramen. Broth is top notch. Tan tan with the pate and szechuan peppers is my favorite but ask for them to crank the heat up if you really want to get the full experience! Don't be fooled by the casual atmosphere and down to business quick service style, it's better price and value than most places in pgh. Highly recommend.
My daughter and I just couldn't pass up the chance to try a ramen shop. Inside feels just like it seems it would, from watching anime. There's a counter edging the kitchen area, and a few seats along the walls. Inside was clean, bright, and open. The ramen was good, and filling. Their marinated eggs were very tasty. It was fun to eat and experience the whole bowl of ramen, with its pink and white swirly fish cakes and piles of toppings. The only thing I think they could do better is with their menu. While *I* have a basic idea of the differences between the different kinds of ramen, most customers would be completely lost. The descriptions don't go far enough to explain what's different about each.
Great noodle house. Good selection and nothing was over cooked
Great spot! Closest thing I can get to a Japanese Ramen cart in Toyko. Great service, homely environment and worth the wait and price.
I liked being able to watch the noodles being hand pulled, and our server was very helpful in explaining the difference between wide and thin, flour and rice noodles. The menu has noodles as well as some dim sum options and other sides, so we were able to taste a large variety of the food! Everything was well seasoned, maybe a little on the greasy side but not too extreme. The broth was rich and filling and the noodles, of course, were excellent. Would highly recommend!
Its ok, not exactly what we were looking for as far as soup selections go, but still good. A little too crowded for our likes and the service was rushed and you felt like you needed to eat quickly so someone else could have your table.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Oakland hands down.My favorite is pan cooked chicken curry ramen. I feel it is good to have a favorite dish here as I feel they do some dishes better than others. Chicken curry ramen being one of their strongest and the pork ramen being one of their weaker dishes.Service is fast especially on refills of water but I feel as if service is a little pushy to get you in and out which i guess is understandable as it's a smallish place with limited seating and also a popular spot among the local college students. I had my broth taken when i spend a little too much time on my phone, although i only had a quarter left of it. I wasn't going to make a fuss though.Just be prepared to eat and leave soon after.
I would not recommend this place. The service is friendly but the food disappoints. The ramen noodles are bland. The chasiu pork is dry and overcooked. The egg is oversalted. And the other pork bone broth was thin and watery. The pan fried gyoza was reasonable but certainly wasn't enough to balance out the otherwise lackluster meal.
Delicious miso! Got a recommendation from the waitress and it was great.
Absolutely delicious! I go here at least once a week because their ramen is so good! This time I asked for tsukemen and they gladly allowed me to order that. This place has a good vibe and the staff is very friendly. Prices are good but they do charge a credit card fee. Give it a shot!
Consistently good ramen and crispy katsu.
The takoyaki was great. The curry katsu ramen was decent, but not exactly mind blowing. The yakisoba was not as saucy as I was expecting and fairly mediocre.
The ramen was a good value. Large portions for decent prices.
Good food, good people, good service. If you are an on campus student at Forbes, this will a go to. Just warning, the prices are a bit high but the portions pretty much make up for it. The quality is very good and the atmosphere is equally good. This is a nice place to eat with friends or alone, which is why I recommend it. Just as a note, the seating is a bit limited so that can be an issue but the place isn't too crowded so it isn't much of a hassle.
Great place for lunch. Food very good and service excellent and friendly.
